residual stress measurements

We use x-rays, neutrons, and electrons to measure the residual stress distributions in metals and ceramics.  We have a Proto Manufacturing iXRD instrument for performing in-laboratory or in-field measurements.  We have applied x-ray diffraction to measure residual stresses in friction stir welded steel and aluminum, fusion welded aluminum, and peened aluminum surfaces.
